Description
Methyl dihydrojasmonate is an ester and a diffusive aroma compound, with the smell vaguely similar to jasmine.
In racemic mixtures the odor is floral and citrus while epimerized mixtures exhibit a dense fatty floral odor with odor recognition thresholds of 15 parts per billion.
The compound is also known as hedione. Its boiling point is 110°C at 0.2 mmHg and it has an refractive Index: 1.45800 to 1.46200 (20.00°C).

Methyl dihydrojasmonate is GB 2760–1996 provides for the temporary use of flavorants.
Methyl dihydrojasmonateis usaged to formulate artificial jasmine oil, jasmine and tuberose base. A small amount is used in the lily of the valley to thicken and give a gentle roundness. It is also used in non-flower-shaped Suxin orchid, oriental type, and new cologne type, and the effect is very good. It can be used in conjunction with woody notes.
