Preparation method of scandium metal: Scandium metal is produced by calcium thermal reduction.  Chlorination method The chlorination method is a common method for synthesizing scandium metal. The method generally includes the following steps: Ore processing: First, the scandium-containing ore (such as scandium bauxite) is crushed and ground to extract the scandium compound. Chlorination reaction: The extracted scandium compound reacts with chlorine to generate scandium chloride (ScCl₃). Reduction reaction: Scandium chloride is reduced by metallic sodium or  calcium to obtain metallic scandium.
